Arus is the home of the Arusian race and the first planet under Voltron's protection from the Galra Empire.[1]

It served as the resting place for the Castle of Lions containing Allura, Coran, and the Black Lion for at most 10,000 years. The Castleship and its occupants are awakened once Lance, Shiro, Keith, Hunk, and Pidge arrive in the Blue Lion. The local Arusians soon send Klaizap to investigate the Castle after witnessing Voltron battle Sendak's warship.

Arus is a hospitable planet full of water, green plant life, and a safely breathable atmosphere. The Castle of Lions is located in an area of rocky cliffs near a body of water, surrounded by forest and grassy, mountainous lands. The planet seems to have a moon larger in size compared to Earth's moon, noted that it could be closer in distance to its moon as well.[2]The planet appears to be host to a variety of local flora safe for human consumption, as Hunk was able to concoct several human-friendly meals from the surrounding plant life.

Though Earth and Arus share a lot in common, both are tremendously far away from each other;[2] Arus is located in sector of the universe called the Javeeno Star System which is full of constellations unfamiliar to humans, and sits way on the fringes of the Galra Empire.[3][4][5] It has a nearby asteroid belt called the Zolar asteroid belt.[5]

Arusians are small bipedal aliens with two or more curved brown horns who live in a village by "Gazrel Hill". They appear furless, tend to be pale in color, and have thick tails.

The Arusian culture appears to be a primitive one with little advanced technology. They have a basic political structure and small organized military, in that they have a king and his subjects, as well as a class of warriors. Most of the Arusian lifestyle seems to be based in gathering food, farming, and religious worship.
